My title of my previous blog was a bit off. It wasn’t just a wasted trip to Johannesburg, but a completely waste of a time to even head down to South Africa. My entire post could be the same as the one I posted on South Africa. Except, this time Roger Guerreiro came in at half-time and provided some type of offense, provided some type of attack. After all, they were only playing Iraq, and don’t get me wrong, I do think Iraq has come a long way from where their national team was just even a few years ago with the war going on and all, but, it’s Iraq!

Squandered trip to Johannesburg
8 06 2009
By now, you would think the Polish national team would realize that each day they have together, they should make the best of it. A team that plays inconsistent and has so many problems so many times, one would think that a wake up call like the match against Northern Ireland would wake some players up? Apparently not. Like this article from gazeta.pl says, and I agree with, instead of going to South Africa to prepare for the next wave of qualifiers, the team went to site see. Read the rest of this entry »

Poland – San Marino: Historic Victory
1 04 2009
Rafal Boguski scored the quickest goal in Polish national team history in a 10-0 romp over San Marino, which also is the biggest victory in Polish history. Rafal ended the game with two goals. Ebi Smolarek scored 4 goals in the lopsided game. Robert Lewandowski, Ireneusz Jelen, Mariusz Lewandowski and Marek Saganowski also scored. The Polish team played a beautiful game right from the start. Took a 4-0 into half-time and they never looked back. Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t scoreboard watch, Just win!
31 03 2009
Nobody ever said it was going to be easy. And by losing to Northern Ireland 2:3 last Saturday, Poland only made it harder on themselves on making the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa. But, with a little bit of help, Poland can still sneak back into the World Cup picture. However, the biggest help Poland could use, is their own. And that’s to start winning. Poland has a bit of a break as they host lowly ranked San Marino squad, who is only dressing two professionals. Poland should win easily, which would move them up in the standings to atleast a 2nd place tie. Read the rest of this entry »

Northern Ireland – Poland: What the hell was that?
28 03 2009
No words can describe how I feel right now. Maybe that is why it has taken me so long to make a post. Maybe I just needed to reflect a little bit more on the disaster that was seen today in Belfast where Poland pretty much kissed good-bye any hopes of making the 2010 World Cup. Maybe I just needed some time because if I had posted earlier, my post wouldn’t make any sense and I’d most likely get in deep trouble with my bosses over the foul language. Leo Beenhakker has named his squad for the latest summer fixtures against South Africa, Iraq and Greece. The game against South Africa will be played at the Orlando Stadium. It will be the final warm-up friendly for the Africans ahead of their opening Confederations Cup Group A clash at Ellis Park against Asian champions Iraq on June 14. However, There are a few squad changes that may cause upset in some – but there is one change which should not be a surprise to anyone.
