Roger can speak Polish – Can you?

Roger Guerreiro against Croatia

I’m sure we have all heard the same poor excuse by fans since Polish international Roger Guerreiro received his passport and first call up. This same excuse of course claims that Roger cannot speak Polish, thus this should not make him eligible for national team play. I think not. That is why I intend this blog post to finally end that Roger language excuse once and for all. Frankly, it’s annoying, especially when Roger actually speaks Polish almost better then Smolarek.

Wasted trip ends with 1-1 draw with Iraq

9 06 2009

Wilk against IraqMy title of my previous blog was a bit off. It wasn’t just a wasted trip to Johannesburg, but a completely waste of a time to even head down to South Africa. My entire post could be the same as the one I posted on South Africa. Except, this time Roger Guerreiro came in at half-time and provided some type of offense, provided some type of attack. After all, they were only playing Iraq, and don’t get me wrong, I do think Iraq has come a long way from where their national team was just even a  few years ago with the war going on and all, but, it’s Iraq!

Squandered trip to Johannesburg

8 06 2009

Polacy_przegrali_RPA_3365383By now, you would think the Polish national team would realize that each day they have together, they should make the best of it. A team that plays inconsistent and has so many problems so many times, one would think that a wake up call like the match against Northern Ireland would wake some players up? Apparently not. Like this article from gazeta.pl says, and I agree with, instead of going to South Africa to prepare for the next wave of qualifiers, the team went to site see. Read the rest of this entry »

Ekstraklasa Round 19 wrap-up

9 03 2009

Ekstraklasa got to a real crazy start to Round 19 on Friday with LKS Lodz holding on to a 4-3 victory over Cracovia Krakow. The game featured the most goals of any match this season, and also featured some late second heroics as LKS Lodz was down by two in their home stadium with only a minute to go. LKS Lodz needed a miracle. And they got it. First, Rafal Kujawa scored in the 89th minute, and then Wahan Geworgian scored give Lodz the all important 3 points. National team hopefuls Maciej Iwanski, Robert Lewandowski , Roger, and Pawel Brozek all scored for their clubs this weekend as well. Here’s the rest from around the Ekstraklasa in Round 19- Read the rest of this entry »

Roger and out for Wales

11 02 2009
A hero saves the day

A hero saves the day

I used the name of the topic from Setanta Sports headline as it fits perfectly what we saw today. “Roger and out.” The Welsh side put up a good fight and youngsters were sparkling with ambition. The meeting was being held with a low attendance from the crowd, but Polish supporters made a real hubbub considering their modest quantity. Some of the shouts might have been rather naughty and I found them disturbing, but let’s call it a night. A hubbub reached it’s peak in the 80th minute, when Roger Guerreiro scored with a tremendous lob, that type of lob which you probably need to be Brazilian to try, not mention scoring.
