My title of my previous blog was a bit off. It wasn’t just a wasted trip to Johannesburg, but a completely waste of a time to even head down to South Africa. My entire post could be the same as the one I posted on South Africa. Except, this time Roger Guerreiro came in at half-time and provided some type of offense, provided some type of attack. After all, they were only playing Iraq, and don’t get me wrong, I do think Iraq has come a long way from where their national team was just even a few years ago with the war going on and all, but, it’s Iraq!

Gornik Zabrze and Legia Warsaw started the weekend off on Friday in a 0-0 draw. Legia outplayed Henryk Kasperczak’s squad but were unable to connect on a goal, in a game watched by national team coach Leo Beenhakker. Zabrze’s goalkeeper Sebastian Nowak played a great game and was the main reason why Gornik got a very valuable point. Ekstraklasa Round 20 wrap-up
15 03 2009
This week can be described easily by just one word: Upsets. The upsets started Friday, with Polonia Warsaw and Legia Warsaw both losing. Polonia lost 3-1 to LKS Lodz, while Legia lost 2-1 to Jagiellonia. Upsets continued on Saturday, as Wisla Krakow tried to get a win and jump over both Warsaw clubs into second place, but was unable to score at GKS Belchatow and tied 0-0 in a game where Wisla star Pawel Brozek left on a stretcher after colliding with Belchatow’s goalkeeper Lukasz Sapela. The upsets didn’t stop there, on Sunday, Gornik Zabrze shocked Lech Poznan and tied the first place team 1-1. Lech tried to get a very solid lead on the standings but couldn’t score on the last place Zabrze side until the 92nd minute, when a own-goal by Pawel Strak cost the home side a full-3 points. Brozek should think twice about joining West Ham United
21 02 2009Pawel Brozek has finally become what many have always expected out of him for years. The 25 year old Wisla Krakow striker has been a hot topic of late, not only because of his play, but also rumors surrounding him with a move to a bigger European club. Brozek has been a scoring machine the last two seasons. In 2007/08 season, Brozek led the Polish Ekstraklasa with 23 goals. And currently, at the winter break, Brozek leads all goal scorers again, with 12. Brozek had a remarkable scoring record in 2008, playing a total of 30 games and scored 19 goals. Including 5 caps with the National team and 2 goals, against the Czech Republic and Lithuania. Read the rest of this entry »
