7 07 2009

KasprzikThe powers of the Ekstraklasa have been loading up on talent this summer, trying to stack a roster for what should be a very competitive 2009/10 season. Such moves like Arek Radomski from NEC in the Dutch league to Lech Poznan, Carlo Costly returning from his load deal to GKS Belchatow from Birmingham City, Marcin Mieciel going back to Legia Warsaw from German VfL Bochum and Wisla Krakow bringing in Lukasz Gargula and Andraz Kirm. However, the biggest signing of them all may have been this past week when Lech Poznan signed goalkeeper Grzegorz Kasprzik from Piast Gliwice. Read the rest of this entry »

What does the future hold for Lech Poznan?

16 03 2009

Lech Poznan seemed to be headed straight towards their 6th Polish league title with what is arguably the best Polish club squad since the Wisla Krakow club which made a long run in the Uefa Cup in 2003. Some would even argue this Lech Poznan team is better. After 20 weeks of the Polish Ekstraklasa, Lech Poznan sits in first place with 43 points, three points ahead of Legia Warsaw. Lech Poznan also made a nice run in the Uefa Cup which just ended last month to Udinese. 30 09 2008

Leo Beenhakker made his call-ups for the next two games today with no big surprises. Much of his picks were already speculated earlier by the media, and even hinted by PZPN head, Michal Listkiewicz. The only small surprise is that Lukasz Gargula didn’t make the cut. Why is that? Because he was replaced by the already injured Radoslaw Majewski. Well sure, it doesn’t make any sense when it comes out of my mouth… but I’m sure if Leo was to say it, it would sound like a good move, or not. What we have here my friends is a typical Polish A-team call up for some qualifiers. Same shit, just different players.

Poor, poor Zoowafski

29 09 2008

He never was much of a leader, more of a joker on and off the pitch. Now after his poor performance (If you can call it that) at EURO 2008 and with World Cup qualifications just starting, Maciej Zurawski has been quietly booted from the NT. Why? When? Where? You may ask. Well frankly, he himself doesn’t even know the answer to those questions. Now some people may call him a pussy, or dick after the EURO, but a bad player he is not.
