A disciplinarian with self-discipline needed

The inevitable happened of course and only those who believe in miracles could have expected anything else. After going down meekly 0-2 to the Czech Republic, Poland are now officially out of World Cup 2010 and they won’t play another competitive game until 2012. It is almost three years to the day when Poland kick off Euro 2012 in the new Warszawa stadium that is currently being built.

Leo Beenhakker Fired!

leogoneLeo Beenhakker has been fired, according to many media outlets out of Poland, including sport.pl. Poland lost an embarrassing World Cup qualifier today to Slovenia 3-0, which all but eliminates Poland officially from South Africa. Polish Football Federation Grzegorz Lato announced after the game that Leo will be officially dismissed on Thursday. Under 23 head coach, Stefan Majewski, will take over as new manager of the Polish National team. Read the rest of this entry »





Obraniak and Brozek to start vs. N.Ireland

Leo Beenhakker has his starting XI, sport.pl has reported.

Ludovic Obraniak, after his great 2-goal debut against Greece, has replaced Ebi Smolarek on the wing. Can’t really argue with that. Obraniak is playing at a high level for Lille and looked great in the 45′ minutes he played vs. Greece. Read the rest of this entry »

By now, i’m sure everybody has seen the dirty tackle Axel Witsel on Polish defender Marcin Wasilewski in a Belgian league match this past weekend which broke his leg. There is no room in the sport for such tackles and I’m very happy UEFA took a very heavy stance against Witsel. Witsel has been suspended by the Belgian football federation until late November and fined a heavy amount. Read the rest of this entry »





Wasted trip ends with 1-1 draw with Iraq

Wilk against IraqMy title of my previous blog was a bit off. It wasn’t just a wasted trip to Johannesburg, but a completely waste of a time to even head down to South Africa. My entire post could be the same as the one I posted on South Africa. Except, this time Roger Guerreiro came in at half-time and provided some type of offense, provided some type of attack. After all, they were only playing Iraq, and don’t get me wrong, I do think Iraq has come a long way from where their national team was just even a  few years ago with the war going on and all, but, it’s Iraq!

Leo names squad for South Africa

Leo Beenhakker has named his squad for the latest summer fixtures against South Africa, Iraq and Greece. The game against South Africa will be played at the Orlando Stadium. It will be the final warm-up friendly for the Africans ahead of their opening Confederations Cup Group A clash at Ellis Park against Asian champions Iraq on June 14. However, There are a few squad changes that may cause upset in some – but there is one change which should not be a surprise to anyone.
