It’s Monday and I’m still depressed with what happened on Saturday with Gornik Zabrze, but, it’s finally hit me and i can now move on and just hope for the best. We’re a second division club and I have to accept that fact for at least one season. During the summer break, Polishsoca.com (currently getting re-build) and the Soca Soul blog, we’ll provide fans with all the news, rumors and opinions on Polish soccer all over the globe. Here’s some of the stories from Poland and Polish players abroad from the last few days- Read the rest of this entry »

Poland – San Marino: Historic Victory
1 04 2009
Rafal Boguski scored the quickest goal in Polish national team history in a 10-0 romp over San Marino, which also is the biggest victory in Polish history. Rafal ended the game with two goals. Ebi Smolarek scored 4 goals in the lopsided game. Robert Lewandowski, Ireneusz Jelen, Mariusz Lewandowski and Marek Saganowski also scored. The Polish team played a beautiful game right from the start. Took a 4-0 into half-time and they never looked back. Read the rest of this entry »

Poland – San Marino: Impossible is Nothing
31 03 2009
Even after a disgusting dinner, a good afternoon snack can make you feel better. At least in theory… Match in Belfast was particularly hideous meal. Can anything improve our aftertaste now? Frankly, I doubt. Since the Slovakia game I was waiting for a NI match to regain faith in our team. To become convinced we have not forgotten how to play soccer. As you can imagine, I am not convinced. Is there a possibility that a game against San Marino will convince me? Not at all. It can only make me feel worse if things go bad.

Goodbye World Cup, Goodbye Leo…?
28 03 2009
What can I say? Very bad game spiced with a lot of bad luck… I don’t want to say more: it is unpleasant to even think about, everything is pretty obvious and I believe you don’t want to read about it more you can read on our main site. Nobody likes eating sour grapes. The question now is, after we’re out of WC quals, what to do with Beenhakker?

The Irek Jelen Show
23 03 2009
If you have not seen Jelen’s goal against Le Mans, you should do so. The video is below. What you’ll see (if you’ll share my point of view of course) is nice technique, flair and composure (and a nice assist by Dariusz Dudka too!). Some of you might remember Irek’s performances at World Cup 2006 in Germany. He was, next to Boruc, our only player who represented Poland proudly enough to deserve call ups in future. Instead, he was somewhat forgotten and pushed to sit in the shade. Undeservedly in my humble opinion.

Leo Beenhakker has named his squad for the latest summer fixtures against South Africa, Iraq and Greece. The game against South Africa will be played at the Orlando Stadium. It will be the final warm-up friendly for the Africans ahead of their opening Confederations Cup Group A clash at Ellis Park against Asian champions Iraq on June 14. However, There are a few squad changes that may cause upset in some – but there is one change which should not be a surprise to anyone.
