I’m sure we have all heard the same poor excuse by fans since Polish international Roger Guerreiro received his passport and first call up. This same excuse of course claims that Roger cannot speak Polish, thus this should not make him eligible for national team play. I think not. That is why I intend this blog post to finally end that Roger language excuse once and for all. Frankly, it’s annoying, especially when Roger actually speaks Polish almost better then Smolarek.
It’s Monday and I’m still depressed with what happened on Saturday with Gornik Zabrze, but, it’s finally hit me and i can now move on and just hope for the best. We’re a second division club and I have to accept that fact for at least one season. Rafal Boguski scored the quickest goal in Polish national team history in a 10-0 romp over San Marino, which also is the biggest victory in Polish history. Rafal ended the game with two goals. Ebi Smolarek scored 4 goals in the lopsided game. Robert Lewandowski, Ireneusz Jelen, Mariusz Lewandowski and Marek Saganowski also scored. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy. And by losing to Northern Ireland 2:3 last Saturday, Poland only made it harder on themselves on making the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa. But, with a little bit of help, Poland can still sneak back into the World Cup picture. However, the biggest help Poland could use, is their own. And that’s to start winning. Poland has a bit of a break as they host lowly ranked San Marino squad, who is only dressing two professionals. No words can describe how I feel right now. Maybe that is why it has taken me so long to make a post. Maybe I just needed to reflect a little bit more on the disaster that was seen today in Belfast where Poland pretty much kissed good-bye any hopes of making the 2010 World Cup. Maybe I just needed some time because if I had posted earlier, my post wouldn’t make any sense and I’d most likely get in deep trouble with my bosses over the foul language.
