I will begin by congratulating Wisla Krakow on becoming the champions of Polish soccer today, with a 2-0 win over Slask Wroclaw, Krakow wins it’s 13th league title in their history. I also want to congratulate the clubs who survived relegation. I usually try not to be biased, and anyone who reads my blogs can vouch for me that I try to speak about all the clubs and never hold a bias towards my team. It’s no secret that I’m a Gornik Zabrze supporter from birth and today, well, is a very sad day for me and the entire Gornik Zabrze community. For the first time in my life-time and the first time since 1978, Gornik Zabrze is getting relegated to the second division and they only have themselves to blame. Read the rest of this entry »

Peszko: Puchar Polski Hero
19 05 2009
Lech Poznan celebrates the first trophy of the season as they beat Ruch Chorzow 1-0 in Slaski Stadium today. Slawomir Peszko’s 51st minute strike was all it took to carry Lech to win it’s 5th Puchar Polski. The play was nicely set up by Hernan Rengifo who looked like he might get fouled, passed it at the last possible second, and Peszko made no mistake with the shot. Read the rest of this entry »

The match will be played in Chrozow, who have a gigantic opportunity to qualify for a European cup tomorrow with a win. Normally I’d say Chrozow doesn’t stand much of a chance, but, with about 40,000 tickets already sold at Slaski Stadium, majority of which will be rooting for Ruch, and the whole argument that anyone can beat anyone any given match day, makes Ruch’s case really strong. Fight to the finish
12 05 2009
Lot’s has happened since my last blog entry on the Soca Soul! And for that, I do apologize. I’ve just been very busy with other commitments and have not had the time to watch too many games, so reporting on them wouldn’t be fair for the readers and I just failed to find time to make posts. Hopefully that’s all over now and beyond me, and I can continue to do what is really fun for me, and that’s talking Polish football! Read the rest of this entry »

Leo Beenhakker has named his squad for the latest summer fixtures against South Africa, Iraq and Greece. The game against South Africa will be played at the Orlando Stadium. It will be the final warm-up friendly for the Africans ahead of their opening Confederations Cup Group A clash at Ellis Park against Asian champions Iraq on June 14. However, There are a few squad changes that may cause upset in some – but there is one change which should not be a surprise to anyone.
