Cracovia Krakow 1:0 Piast Gliwice

Bartosz Slusarski scored the loan goal in a game that was mainly dominated by Cracovia. Sluasrski’s goal came in the 73rd minute on a very nice header to beat Gliwice goalkeeper Grzegorz Kasprzik. Gliwice lacked many chances and failed to score on Cracovia, giving the Krakow club the full 3-points.

Ruch Chorzow 0:1 Gornik Zabrze

In a very physical match, Gornik Zabrze came out from the great derby of Silesia with a win. Newcomer Adam Banas scored a beauty free kick goal right after half-time, which ended up being the game winning goal. The game featured 16 fouls for Ruch and 12 for Gornik, including a 2nd yellow that saw Grzegorz Bonin get ejected in the 78th minute. Neither team really had too many chances as both clubs played a very tight and defensive game in front of 41,000 fans at Slaski Stadium.

Lechia Gdansk 1:1 Slask Wroclaw

Lechia Gdansk score a late second half goal to even up the score against Slask Wroclaw. Wroclaw’s newcomer Jaroslaw Fojut scored in his debut in the 52nd minute. Sebastian Mila made a nice run and have Fojut a very easy ball to finish. Gdansk’s Maciej Kowalczyk tied it up in the 76th minute and the score remained even for the final 14 minutes of play. This was a very even game, each team had their fair chances of scoring but were unsuccessful. Both clubs get a point, and deservedly so.

Jagiellonia Bialystok 3:0 Arka Gdynia
1:11pm- Not gonna lie. I am pretty excited to see the return of Tomasz Frankowski and his career 116 career goals back to the Ekstraklasa
1:16pm- Kick-off. Here we go…
7th min- Jaga is looking very good. I know it’s early, but Jaga looks very strong.
10th min- Jaga’s Pawel Zawistowski nails a dangerous free kick from 40 yards out. Saved by Arka’s keeper Nobert Witkowski.
17th min- Beautiful passing by Jaga. Great attack which almost saw Frankowski get a ball in a golden position for goal…. Jaga really is spreading out the field well.
20th min- Jaga’s defense is eliminating any kind of attack Arka tries to start. Once Arka gets the all past half field, Jaga gets the ball stolen and counters. I can’t believe it’s still 0-0.
23rd min- Arka’s Bartosz Karwan gives his side their first real attack. Arka corner kick.
24th min- Wasted chance. Jaga heads it out and away they go. Few quick passes and Jaga is deep in Arka’s zone.
26th min- GOOOOAAAL Frankowski. What passing by Jaga. And what a finish by Franek. Very impressive. 1-0 Jaga.
28th min- Arka is now trying to get a goal back. That was their best attacked, saved by Rafal Gikieicz.
29th min- GOOOOAAAL Frankowski. Another great attack by Jaga. Kamil Grosicki crossed it to a wide-open Frankowski in the box who blasted it by the keeper. 2-0 Jaga! Frankowski is looking VERY sharp.
34th min- Jaga is still trying a home-run pass and punish the Arka defense who is obviously starting to attempt to attack a bit more….
35th min- FYI, Frankowski’s two goals, are the first two ekstraklasa goals scored in the first half this weekend.
39th min- Great chance by Arka. Several chances to score but were unable to have a clear shot. Soooo close, yet sooo far.
40th min- Dirty foul by Jaga’s Hermes just outside the box. Free kick Arka. Nice shot by Damian Nawrocik on target, but Gikiewicz makes a nice save to keep Jaga up 2-0.
44th min- Corner kick for Arka, but Jaga clears it out of any danger.
45th min- Jaga is still attacking…. but Arka makes a desperate clearance.
HALF-TIME – 2-0 Jaga. Frankowski x2. You have to be very satisfied if your Jaga manager Michal Probierz. Jaga looks in great form. Frankowski on Canal+ interview “I want the hat trick”.
2:14pm – A dominant half by Jaga. Their passing has really stood out to me. They are moving the ball very well. If their passing is on their top game, i don’t see too many teams being able to stop it. They are quick and move the ball from north to west and west to east. They are giving their home fans a heck of a show. Jaga’s defender Krzysztof Krol has been a force in the back and has stopped several of promising attacks by Arka. And what else can I say about Franek? What a return to the Ekstraklasa.
2:24pm- 2nd half kick-off. Can Arka make a game out of this or will Jaga pour it on….
46th min- First attack of the second half belongs to Arka. Nice play by sub Marcin Wachowicz, who blasted the ball just wide.
49th min- Very nice free kick attempt by Jaga’s Bruno. Save by Arka’s keeper Witkowski.
57th min- Jaga is starting to play much safer then they did in the first half. No more long balls and crazy passing from one wing to the other. They are starting to control the play, and gain a lot of possession. Trying to play mistake free football and looking to counter on any Arka’s mistakes.
60th min- Bruno makes a nice run but stopped stopped right outside the box.
64th min- Very nice run by Arka’s Przemyslaw Trytko. He just ran out of room and went out of bounce…
66th min- Arka is making very desperate attacks with no avail. Jaga’s defense is very strong and has won the majority of air-balls. Not sure why Arka’s is still trying to cross the ball in the box. They can’t get anything in the air. On a side note, i’m very impressed with Krol’s attacking. He is joining many of the rushes in the 2nd half down the win and looks very good at crossing. He’s yet to lose the ball in the offensive zone.
70th min- Can i just say, I can’t wait until it’s warm out again? Watching games in this brutal cold weather is painful.
74th min- GOOOOAAAL Pawel Zawistowski. 3-0 Jaga. Once again, great attack by Jaga, awesome passing and awesome vision by it’s players. Krol got the ball and made a very nice pass to Zawistowski. Jaga is dominating.
76th min- Another solid attack by Jaga and Igor Lewczuk’s cross almost found the wide-open Frankowski. Just missed him and Arka cleared the ball out of danger. I don’t think we’ve seen the last goal yet…
80th min- What a play by Bruno and just misses a goal by inches! He received a bad pass, behind him, and somehow did a turnaround, passing it to himself and blasting it just wide of the net….
85th min- Michal Fidziukiewicz enters the game, for Grosicki, the master mind of both Frankowski’s goals. Grosicki was a force on the wing and had plenty of great crosses. Man of the Match is between him, Franek and Krol. Although, by scoring two goals, it’s going to be hard to pick anyone but Frankowski. But my unofficial man of the match is Krol.
90th min- The horror is almost over for Arka Gdynia.
3:10pm – Final whistle. 3-0 Jagiellonia Bialystok over Arka. Fantastic debut by Frankowski! 2 goals and very good plays overall. Jaga played very well, great passing and awesome runs. The fans should be very proud of how their team played tonight. They were by far the most impressive club in the Ekstraklasa so far this round. It’ hard to pick a player on Jaga who wasn’t impressive. Grosicki just said it best to canal+ “We deserved this win, we were in good form coming in and the first 30 minutes were the most important.” Jaga could have been up 4-0 after 30 minutes if they had any luck on their side. The defense didn’t allow Arka to have any good chances until the 2nd half. Well deserved 3 points for Jaga.
And this ends the first edition of “Scoreboard Saturday LIVE” on the Soca Soul! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Lot’s of football, two 1-0 wins, one draw and one blow-out. I’m just glad the Ekstraklasa is back!
